I joined the OCSDC out of nostalgia and to support this great Club. I needed the socialization of a group training class for one of my dogs who had suffered from a traumatic experience. Nancy was very responsive and flexible to my responding to the dog’s needs. I had become an associate member by joining the class. I was notified that I could become a regular member. I joined to support the Club where I established a great foundation for training dogs. I’ve been training dogs since 1968 and their handlers since 1978. I decided to run for president when it became apparent that there were some administrative inconsistencies that needed attention.
I will work for this Club to get the records, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, Standing Rules, and practices of the Board into compliance with the AKC, the State of California and the IRS. I like sorting these issues out in the most professional and transparent way for the members.

I've been a member of the obedience club for about a year however, I've owned dogs for 43 years. We've had several All-American dogs but the breed we love is the Rottie. We learned early on that this large powerful breed requires a strong leader that's dedicated to lifelong training.
We've always trained our dogs in basic obedience and 6 years ago started competing with them. Currently I have 6 Rotties and all but one competes in either conformation or obedience.
In addition to raising Rotties, I'm also a breeder. I teamed up with a life-long OCSDC member, Mechelle Stall, 6 years ago to better the breed. We currently co-own and co-breed rotties together. I'm very fortunate to have a very knowledgeable and successful person to work with.
I belong to 3 Rottie Specialty clubs, 2 all-breed clubs and OCSDC. I'm currently serving as secretary of an all-breed club and volunteer at the Rottie National level.
My background is in accounting/finance, and I have 41 years of experience in the field. My goal in this new role as treasurer is to maintain the integrity of the club’s financial records, provide the membership with monthly detailed financial reports and work with all members to grow the club.
Hello,
I would like to introduce myself. My Name is Margaret Williamson and I will be OCSDC Recording Secretary for the coming year.
I joined OSCSDC handling class in 1987 and as a new and aspiring breeder of Norwegian Elkhounds, socialized and trained my upcoming pups and adults for the show ring through this club for many years. The wonderful people I met through this club taught both me and my daughter how to properly handle and present our beautiful dogs in competition. We were so appreciative of the opportunities presented to us by this wonderful club.
I am now retired, having enjoyed a very versatile and successful professional career in government and private industry.
In years past, I have bred, trained, and shown seventeen Norwegian Elkhounds to their conformation championships and one Doberman Pinscher to her obedience championship at a national specialty. My past and present activities include holding the officer positions of President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Director and Show Chairman for two all-breed clubs, a parent club and a specialty club.
I believe in strong leadership and transparency, and I look forward to working with what I consider to be an exceptionally talented, experienced, and knowledgeable board of directors in 2024.
Robin has been very active in a Breed Club in several positions, including Treasurer for 15 years and President for four. He was involved in setting up initial agility trials way back when (paper), and shown in Agility, Breed, and Obedience, and earned agility MACHs on two different dogs.
He spent 30 years at the L.A. City Fire Department, then 11 years as consultant for 9-1-1 system. Along the way, rewrote several large manuals for the Department using language, grammar, and punctuation skills (as well as field knowledge of tech aspects of fire service).
Mechelle Stall was born and raised in El Cajon, CA, and now resides in Alpine, CA. I am a lifetime member since my mom Jeanine Sudinski has been a member since the 1950s.
I started competing with my Rottweiler and dachshunds in Obedience at the age of 12 completing 10 Companion Dog titles, 8 Companion Dog Excellent titles with one being a Will Judy Award, 3 Utility Dog titles, 4 Temperament Test titles, 4 Carting titles, 4 Rally Novice, 4 Rally Advanced, 2 Rally Excellent. Competed three times in the top dog competition for Open and Utility. Today I do more championship titles in competition and won Dachshund Club of America nationals over 400 dogs in 2004.
In 2004 my mom Jeanine Sudinski and I bred over 300 dachshund champions and was recognized by AKC as Hound breeder of the year award.
I owe all my Obedience titles to the Obedience Club of San Diego County, as my place of where I started my obedience training and thank you to Audrey and Fon Johnson for making all this happen.

It was Rin Tin and Lassie's fault! Dogs are my first love period! I started training as an assistant to Miss Stevens, a retired State Humane Officer at age 11. She taught at our local park and rec center. She was a great mentor! She taught me how to work with the hard to train dogs, how to praise them to get their attention. And how to get buy in from their owner handlers to better communicate with their dogs. Her mentorship was invaluable, it has served me well.
Work: Employed by the world famous San Diego Zoo.
Event titles: Obedience, Rally, Agility, Tracking, Herding (sheep and cattle), Trick, Carting, Lure coursing, and a smattering of Conformation (no titles). I have working line German Shepherds.
Club experience and participation: Have been on dog club boards off and on since 1990. All Breed Dog Obedience Club was my first board experience as a director. I belong to six dog clubs in San Diego. And I am on the Board of three: President of the German Shepherd Dog Club of San Diego County; Board member of the Agility Club of San Diego and Board member of the Obedience Club of San Diego. All three obedience Clubs and Silver Bay Kennel Club.
I have served as Trial Chair for the Obedience and Rally Trials many times for the Obedience Club of San Diego as well as the German Shepherd Dog Club of SDC.
Have done countless Raffles (now known as opportunity drawings) and hospitality setups for trials. Have also served as trophy chairperson many times for the above clubs.
Club-wise I hope we can continue to all work together to promote our favorite dog activities throughout San Diego and beyond. If we want to keep our dog sports, clubs must work together to achieve better results. I look forward to serving on this very versatile board.
OCSDC Member 40-45 years, OCSDC Top Dog Team Competitor
I've been involved in dog sports for fifty-three years, starting when I was twenty, with my German Shepherd in conformation events. Then I met Golden Retrievers, and I've never looked back! I've finished several of my Goldens to their Championship titles, owner handled. One of my girls was invited to Crufts when she was awarded Best Veteran at the 2016 Golden Retriever National, with me handling her in Best of Breed. The win, and the Invitation was the thrill of a lifetime.
Conformation led to obedience, which led to Rally when it first became an AKC sport. I also compete in Tracking and Scent Work and agility with my Goldens. I have put on a CH MACH 5 Agility Dog Hall of Fame title on one of my girls, and a CT MACH 4 PACH agility title on her daughter. Several others hold Masters agility titles.
I have titled four dogs to their Champion Tracker titles, and another will hopefully attain that title this tracking season. In 2021 I was named by AKC as the "Breeder of The Year for Tracking". I was honored to be recognized by AKC for all the tracking titles I have attained with my dogs, and with dogs bred by me.
One of my girls is the youngest Golden Retriever female to complete the Champion Tracker title. Maris was one year, one month, and 26 days old when she completed all three tests.
Scent Work has been exciting as well. My girls hold Excellent and Advanced titles. My young male is just starting his SW adventures, and he also holds Tracking titles.
I've also titled one of my dogs in field work, attaining the Working Certificate designation.
My life with these wonderful companions has led me to enjoy many adventures with lots of new friends who share the same love for dogs that I have. It's not the titles earned, it's the time spent with wonderful people, and their equally wonderful canine companions that brings joy to our lives.
We had been dogless for several years after our Greyhound passed away. In 1953 we moved to Georgia and the begging began. Dad: “Lauren, if you want a puppy you will have to train it.” I agreed and got my first Boxer in 1954. Military brats move a lot and when you are an only child your dog helps you through this and making new friends. I learned to train from my father, who was raised on a Kansas working ranch, training horses, mules, and dogs.
In the Philippines, 1956-58, we kept 2 puppies from our first Boxer litter and took group classes from the military dog handler. Next stop was a base in central PA where Mom and I took several young Boxers to classes given by a State Police officer in Hershey. Shelties were added to the mix in 1960.
In 1970 I started teaching obedience for Dauphin Dog Training club and opened my own grooming and training business. I moved to San Diego in 1978 and joined OCSDC to have a place to train my dogs. I bought and merged two grooming businesses, and taught group classes with Ginger Nolan. Soon I was also teaching for the club.
In 1984 I trained hunting dogs in northern California for 6 months. There were many ups and downs for OCSDC when newer training methods were not allowed to be used by trainers. Hot arguments ensued during meetings (at the home of Audrey Johnson) between the “old timers” and those who wanted to use treats and new methods.
New blood joined the board. It was during this time that Nancy Asbury joined forces with us. Betty Ribble’s arrival at a meeting was the final piece of the puzzle needed to save the club. Her credentials and knowledge over-ruled the objections from the older members.
New training methods and friendships created the club that has since flourished. Well-trained dogs will be valuable members of their human families and rarely end up in the “pound.” This is why I teach.
Doing the math…. I’ve been training dogs for 69 years!
I've lived in San Diego since 1980.
At work I was a federal prosecutor (Asst. U.S. Attorney) and a state prosecutor (Cal. Deputy Attorney General). For stress relief, I brought home an 8-week-old German shepherd puppy in 1990 (#1 "Quincy"). When she got bored and renovated the backyard, I went to the OCSDC for help.
From Quincy to Ricochet (#8 GSD) the dogs and I studied obedience, herding, rally, tracking, scent work, trailing and locating, carting and conformation, and I learned to compete in dog sports. One of my pups was the first GSD to be a breed champion AND a tracking champion.
I've been on the board of directors of the German Shepherd Dog Club of San Diego, other dog related clubs, and my local Soroptimist club.
